COPD IN PRIMARY CARE by M. Barnett May 2006
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0470019840/breathlesswit-21
An excellent book for GPs although I feel that some aspects of oxygen therapy etc have been glossed over. A useful addition to the book above by Dr. Bellamy and Rachel Booker.
THE JUICING HANDBOOK: A GUIDE TO MIXING OVER 200 JUICE DRINKS http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1856056759/breathlesswit-21
Do NOT juice these recipes. Use a food blender - it retains the fibre. The drink may not be as smooth as a juicer but it is better for you.
I have read most of these books and I am indebted to their authors without whom I could not have understood (however limited that understanding might be) COPD or written this Web Site. Where I have adapted some of your material to suit this web site I hope that you will understand that is for the welfare of all patients with COPD. I have also adapted material from a wide range of Internet sites and any publications/pamphlets /newspaper articles that I have come across in the last three years.
USEFUL WEB ADDRESSES - MOSTLY UK BUT SOME AMERICAN. BROWSE THROUGH THEM ALL.
www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
- excellent all round site with plenty of information and includes advice on current weather conditions.
www.emphysema.net/bindex.html (EFFORTS - American site for emphysema patients). Although this runs an open Forum if you join be prepared for over 20 emails every day - many have nothing to do with UK NHS services. It is of course geered to North America. I suggest you read the articles themselves which are excellent.
www.lunguk.net a site focusing on better screening and a search for cures instead of palliative care.
